sore

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

i pulled a muscle in my neck in the middle of pack up last night at youth. then i kept moving heavy things. now i’m paying the price. i can hardly turn my head.

fatigue

politics in church really wearies me. i’m seeing a lot of it lately, and i feel like i’m the only one. what’s worse is it usually starts with me having nothing to do with it, and other people involve me. when that happens you generally can’t help but let pride get in the way. i often ponder if there could ever be a community without politics, and i doubt it. which i find hard. i suppose i’m just going to have to suck it in.

worlds collide

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

we’re doing the ncls survey today at church. it’s weird feeling when your worlds collide. actually it’s not to bad at the moment. it’ll be worse when they get the dvd in a few months with their results and see me on it. hopefully they won’t show it at church.

mobilising

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

yesterday i walked up to turramurra music, with a question and walked back with less cash and an item layby-ed. which is how it usually goes. i don’t often buy expensive things. the last time i did was when i bought my new electric guitar (which was slightly different, as it was to replace the other one i gave away).

Mobile Hotness

anyway, this is what i got. it’s an “edirol fa-101″. basically a mobile firewire audio device. it can record up to 10 in and 10 out, with midi and at very high rates. i wanted a device to plug into my laptop. the one i used for the past few years ago, is bound to a desktop, which is getting older and slower (relatively). in fact the only reason i haven’t got rid of the old computer yet is because i can’t record any music with the laptop.

i wasn’t really planning on layby-ing necessarily, but they had a really really good price (nearly $400 less that retail). so i wanted to lock in that price.

now i just have to pay it off..

on the way out

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

i think my desktop pc is on the way out. i haven’t tried turning it on for probably the best part of two months. and i did tonight because i wanted to demo some music. so it’s slightly annoying if it’s gone.

it’s still up in the air a bit, but we’ve decided to make a 3rd and final “the boys/christmas” album, which will also be a victory one testbed thingo, seeing as we never got round to doing anything for blackstump/october. and though we’ll probably do the recording on my new laptop, i don’t yet have anything attached to it to record with, so i can’t do anything for another month or two (that’s another $1000 down the track).

owl

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

i’m finding it really hard to go to sleep before 12 these days. it’s probably because i sleep so much on the train. i usually get about an hours worth of oft-interrupted sleep each way to parramatta.

wait a minute, i did make a coffee at about 9:30 tonight.

but generally i’m going on a lot less sleep, yet i really need it.

going global

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

last week i had a lecture for DI at tony’s office. tony is a guy from church who’s the managing director of a software company. it was really cool being able to pick his brain about business.

it has left me thinking a lot the past week or so. mainly about victory one. i think i’m going to have to sit down and re-think quite a bit of what i though victory one was going to actually do. i think i went on a tangent for a bit, thinking it was going to be this great big web site. which is probably why not much has happened. because while it’d be cool to have that sort of audience, i really don’t want to build a site like that myself. i’d rather get on with the business of creating music and art.

which actually might prove to be more realistic anyway. having this abstract whimsicle idea of creating this incredible piece of web real estate out of a market that i’m not sure even exists was going to be difficult at best.

born again

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

hello. this is the third blog i’ve started in my lifetime. perhaps it won’t be the last either. i guess the reason i’ve moved here though, is because it’s at victory one, and it’s wordpress. also, it was difficult to upload stuff to the old blog and i didn’t know how much space i had anywhere. so i’m sort of thinking all these nice things will perhaps make me blog more often. they probably won’t but it’s a nice thought. i’m not sure if i’ll put it on blogfeed. i might later on. i think thats one thing that stops me from blogging funnily enough. i don’t quite know why. anyway. welcome.
