smelly

i bought deodorant yesterday, and i put some on this morning, and immediately it smelt like lychees. now whenever i wave my arms around i smell lychees, which seems to be quite often apparently. i’m trying to save money, so i’m probably going to have to stick to smelling like bad fruit until it runs out.

had a crazy night of new year last night. one i’ll never forget.

we started by catching the train into the city at around 9pm. chris and i hooked up with shonn on the way in. we got to wynyard, and wondered around a bit. we had to wait around for jordy, who was, in usual fashion, hours late. when he got there it was around 10.30pm. shonn and jordy had friends at the bar near the opera house. that was the plan, but when we went to get in, they’d closed the gates because they’d reached capacity.

plan B was going to balmain. by this time it was around 11:30. it was a bit of a race to get a bus on time, but i think i was the only one really worried about that. we met some crazy people on the bus. two punk sort of kids, with 80’s roy orbison sunnies. i think they’d been doing pills of some kind. we also met these other guys, who i think were all around 17/18, there names were sarah, damo, alice, and aryian (i think). shonn was being a bit of a dick to them, so i thought we probably wouldn’t see them after the bus trip.

when we got off the bus, it was about 11:45pm. it was a race to get down near the wharf. but we all got there, with time to spare. we got a few beers, and opened them just in time to enjoy the fireworks. we’d also met up again with the dudes from the bus. shortly after 12, the exodus began. one of the people walking back, a lady at least 50 or so, was trying to kiss people. jordy volunteered himself, and after she pecked him on the cheek, well.. i don’t really need to go into it. i’ll just say chris and i aren’t letting him live down that one. some guy asked me for a light, and then gave me a sweet cuban cigar, which i proceeded to smoke most of, with a little help from the gang. it went down smooth.
so we went right down near the water, and met up with carly. she was with a random dude, i think she liked him - they didn’t stay long. so we sat down at the water for a while. shonn nearly started a fight with a tall woman, who jordy then calmed down. damo started inviting people round to his house. he lived in flemington. we laboured over that for a while, then finally resolved to go back to flemington. on the way back up balmain to catch the bus, another random, sara introduced herself to me. she’d lost her friends, so i invited her to flemington (on behalf of damo). and her handbag was broken, which i fixed for her. then she left to go to a pub on balmain.

the trek to flemington took what felt like ages. when we finally got there, we ended up having a garden party in the complex damo lived in. he lives with his stepmum, and i don’t think she wanted people round at 3 in the morning. there were starbursts, beer and party pies. damo was quite the host. only i think he was a keen on jordy. that was a little awkward, infact that’s probably why we got invited round in the first place. the crew that lived there wanted to go through the night, but the rest of us could feel the painful journey home. we made the sunset going over the bridge on the train. it was quite a site, the grey overcast, with orange and pinks shining through. got home at about 6am. woke up half an hour ago.
