disturbance

yesterday afternoon at about 4, chris and i were playing music, albeit for about 20 minutes. funnily enough, i didn’t actually think we were playing all that loudly. but the neighbors thought otherwise. so we had a visit from the police again.

we got a cop (and his deputy, or whatever you call them), that we’d had before. it was the funniest conversation. aside from the usual “someone’s complained, you’ve got to turn down that rock-and-roll!” we had a really good conversation. he asked what the band’s name was, and if we were playing gigs. i thought he was trying to segue to “perhaps you should only be playing that loudly when you’re gigging”, but he was genuinely interested. after saying “ahh, we like old stuff. you know, queen, the police, u2″, he responded with “ahh, we were listening to some acca-dacca on the way over here, do you play any of that?!”. then he asked if i went to the u2 concert. which i responded with an eager “two concerts!”, to which he proceeded to tell me he saw the ZooTV concert, but he didn’t like it all that much, he did however like the concert last year.

we rubarb’ed a little longer. he asked sympathetically “how many visits have had from the police”. i told him “oh, somewhere between half a dozen and a dozen, most of them are fairly uptight about it..”, to which he responded “ahh, those guys give us a bad name.” then he left, with the final statement “rock on!”.

i think i might have to have him in for a cuppa next time he comes round.
